The UK1401 SURFER is a surface ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) tester. Its two dry-point-contact transducers sit at a fixed 150 mm base on the same face of the concrete, so it needs access to one surface only. It reports pulse velocity and transit time. The manufacturer's catalogue also lists a strength function that works from integrated calibration curves for set concrete classes.
Pulse velocity tells you about the soundness and uniformity of concrete. It does not measure compressive strength directly, and it does not establish whether a structure is safe. Treat any strength figure as an estimate. Velocity is affected by the mix, aggregate, moisture, age and nearby reinforcement, so a strength estimate is only dependable once it has been correlated against your own concrete, for example with cored samples.

Afroil supplies the UK1401 SURFER to order, with delivery to your location. We do not hold local stock, so every purchase starts with a quotation.
Payment arrangements, warranty and manufacturer support terms are confirmed in your quotation, so you see them before you commit.
Not directly. It measures ultrasonic pulse velocity across the surface and can show a strength estimate from built-in calibration curves for set concrete classes. For a figure you can rely on, correlate velocity against cored samples from your own concrete.
Choose the SURFER for compact, one-face surface checks. Choose the A1410 PULSAR when you can place transducers on opposite faces, or need an adjustable base up to 2,500 mm. The two are compared in our A1410 PULSAR vs UK1401 SURFER guide.
No. Pulse velocity readings are affected by reinforcement close to the test path, but the instrument does not locate it. A rebar locator such as the ZBL-R630A does that job. See rebar scanner vs ultrasonic concrete tester.
Yes. The SURFER is a surface instrument and works from one face. It does not test through the full thickness of a member.
The price depends on your location and the configuration, so we quote each order. Send your city and country and we reply with a formal quotation covering price, delivery terms and lead time. Nigeria and Ghana are quoted separately.
No. We supply to order from the manufacturer, and the quotation sets out the delivery arrangement.
